Inuit woman encourages others to operate heavy equipment
"Maria Dicker is one step closer to realizing her dream. The path to becoming a heavy-duty equipment operator with H.J. Canada's New Government Launches Apprenticeship Incentive Grant in Ontario
"The Apprenticeship Incentive Grant provides a $1,000 cash grant per year to registered apprentices who have completed their first or second year in a Red Seal trade program, on or after January 1, 2007 . It will help apprentices achieve their goals by offsetting the costs of tuition, travel and tools. It is estimated that, annually, up to 100,000 apprentices in Canada will be entitled to receive this taxable cash grant."

First Nations’ members pursue roadbuilding careers
"Members of B.C. First Nations are hitting the roads in pursuit of job opportunities.They’re not leaving home, however. A variety of training programs, in some cases arranged by employers, are preparing aboriginal workers to work as road builders and heavy equipment operators on major construction projects across southern B.C."

Successful aboriginal skills program extended
