About the Event
Navigating Skilled Trades was a symposium designed to help you address the skills shortage in Eastern Canadian labour markets and accelerate workplace skills, learning and employment opportunities for Aboriginal people in trades, apprenticeship and technology. The event brought together employers, sector councils, Aboriginal organizations, colleges, unions and government to:
- Develop partnerships to advance local and regional employer/Aboriginal employment partnerships.
- Address the supply and demand challenges impacting Aboriginal participation in trades and technology labour markets.
- Harness the potential of Aboriginal people in the skilled trades and technology sectors - Canada’s youngest, largest and fastest growing untapped workforce.
- Identify concrete workplace strategies to narrow the opportunity gap between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people.
- Accelerate trade and technology skills and apprenticeship/employment opportunities for Aboriginal people.
