The Aboriginal Trades and Apprenticeship website aims to enhance the capacity of all participants to invest in, and leverage the expertise and resources of key partners and stakeholders in Canada’s trades and apprenticeship system. It also aims to enable the all partners to work more effectively with each other at a national level to promote and increase Aboriginal participation in trades and apprenticeship programs and employment.
The key objectives are as follows:
- Increase Aboriginal participation in targeted trades employment and apprenticeship programs by creating, strengthening and leveraging partnerships and collaborative networks with key stakeholders.
- Increase the capacity of trades and apprenticeship stakeholders to respond to industry demand for a skilled Aboriginal workforce by sharing planning and project expertise and by promoting workplace models of best practice in the recruitment and retention of Aboriginal workers participating in trades and apprenticeship systems.
- Increase Aboriginal awareness and knowledge of trades and apprenticeship opportunities in Canada through the development of a coordinated communications strategy through this web resource.
